Location
Newfoundland and Labrador’s greatest asset is its people, internationally known for their rich and diverse culture, as well as their hospitality and warmth.
While studying here students are immersed in a slow-paced way of life in a spectacular physical setting, free of pollution, violence and noise.
The temperate climate with seasonal variation allows students to experience the warmth of spring and summer; a crisp, colourful fall; and a snowy winter that offers opportunities to enjoy sledding, cross-county and downhill skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and hockey.
Students studying in Eastern School District www.esdnl.ca will enjoy the greater St. John’s area which boasts approximately 280,000 people with all the amenities of a large city yet the feel of a close knit community.
Accommodation
Students enjoy a complete immersion program–at school, in the community, and during the time spent with a caring family who will guide and teach them while providing a secure environment and nutritious meals.
Our families are required to complete a detailed application, followed by a home visit and interview, as well as appropriate reference checks, including Order of Conduct documentation from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
Homestay coordinators are available to assist students during regular daytime hours while providing a convenient emergency contact available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A coordinator will communicate with students at least once a month to ensure they are comfortable and have all the support they need to succeed.
Our entire team is committed to your success—our goal is to immerse you in the language and culture so that you can realize your dreams.
Activities
We recognize our students need to enjoy every aspect of life while studying abroad. As part of the program, we have monthly scheduled outdoor activities for our students that include, dog sledding, rock climbing, parasailing, kayaking, zip lining, camping and much more.
As well, our communities offer, skiing, tennis, basketball, swimming, hockey…the possibilities are endless!
