Since 1993, Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows School District 42, has educated students of all ages from all over the world. Regulated by the provincial government, School District 42 is located in southern British Columbia, 44 kilometres east of the city of Vancouver.
Our District prides itself in providing the highest standards in education, public safety and health. We are known for excellence in education – high-tech, accredited schooling, qualified teachers and motivated students.
Our students excel in University and College entrance programs, fine arts, and career education. We provide excellent opportunities for international students to study in a Canadian High School and to prepare for their future University life.
Our modern and highly equipped campuses also offer a variety of specialized programs and academies including soccer academy, hockey academy, equestrian academy, International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, Digital Arts, Teacher Training, short programs, activity and cultural programs and language camps.
School District 42 also has a strong Canadian university preparation program for students who have completed secondary school in their home country. We have accredited partnerships with respected regional universities, and we consistently produce championship-level sports teams and University and College scholarship recipients.

Location
Situated on the shores of the mighty Fraser River and nestled against the Coastal Mountains, Maple Ridge is a mecca of adventure for the outdoor enthusiast. Located 44 kilometers east of Vancouver, it is a progressive community well-known for its beautiful countryside and spectacular scenery. It is a community of urban sophistication that retains a sense of rural charm.
The combined population of Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows is home to 90,000 inhabitants. The communities have successfully integrated small town charm but still offer many opportunities for shopping and leisure enjoyment. The communities are surronded by world class ammenities such as professional calibur golf courses, equestrian centres, mountian bike trails, lakes and rivers for
outdoor enthusiasts wanting to fish, canoe, kayak and hike. We also are home to a performing arts theatre, leisure centres, bowling centre, 5 sheets of ice for skating, aquatic centre, hockey and curling, movie theatre complex and special interest community programs. There are many parks and leisure clubs offering opportunities for fine arts and sports.

Accommodation
School District 42 provides caring Canadian homestays in our community that are within the schools catchment. Our families are registered and monitored by School District Staff. The homestay manager and homestay support staff's role is to monitor and provide support to the international student guiding them to a positive homestay experience. Students requiring a
homestay will be placed in a single-family dwelling with English speaking Canadian families to provide stability and depth to students' cultural education and to support their English language studies.
Students who do not require a homestay placement because they will be residing with a relative or other responsible person (an adult age 25 or older) in School District 42 may be accepted into the education program and may also receive counselling support with respect to their schooling. Students requesting this option must complete the Homestay Exemption form.
In the case of elementary students, students who are not turning 12 in the present school year must live with a parent or custodian approved placement.
Activities
All of the schools offer a multitude of extra curricular activities and clubs for the students to choose from. These clubs are offered before school, during lunch break and after school hours. The diversity of the clubs range from arts and crafts, outdoor adventure, sports, community awareness, music, computer and personal development. The schools international liaison officer can assist the students in choosing a club or extracurricular activity that suits their personal interests.
In addition to clubs and activities offered in the schools, the communities of Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows offer a multitude of opportunities for the students enjoyment. These include arts and recreating facilities abound, creating a culturally vibrant and active city for healthy living. Maple Ridge has become a year-round centre of festivals and festivities like the Jazz and Blues Festival, Maple Rige Fair and the Santa Clause Parade. Its town centre is the focus of community life in the area, offering a state-of-the-art leisure / youth centre complex, library and performing arts centre. Numerous boutique-type shops are located in the area.
