Location

Horizon School Division is a jurisdiction located in southern Alberta. It is made up of several communities: Taber, Vauxhall, Lomond, Milk River and Warner. Each community has a high school willing to take international students. Residents enjoy an excellent quality of life accentuated by safe neighborhoods, clean air and water and some of the mildest weather in Alberta. We are in close proximity to the United States, the Rocky Mountains and many UNESCO World Heritage sites. Recreational opportunities abound in our ‘Big Sky’ country.

Accommodation

A real effort is made to place students with families who are accommodating to student needs. We believe that the homestay family plays a very important part in the cultural experience of our international students. Because we are a small school jurisdiction, we are involved with making sure that our students and families are happy with the arrangements. Homestay families are ambassadors for our community and so must pass a set of stringent guidelines in order to qualify to host a student.
