Each secondary school has a dedicated guidance counsellor to assist ISP students with academic, career choices and to assist in the selection of, and application to, universities.  The counsellor also acts as a daily contact for any concerns or questions.  Free after-school tutorials, staffed by qualified high school teachers are offered 4 days a week throughout the school year. As well free TOEFL and ILETS tutorials are available to assist students in preparing to write the tests.

Location

Belleville is a small secure city with conveniences of a large city. Our city population is 49,000, the area population 150,000. Our community is 99% English speaking and is popular tourist area in summer.  Belleville is conveniently located within easy access to 3 of Canada’s largest cities including Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. Ontario has several prestigious universities, 14 of these schools are within 3 hour drive.

Accommodation

The International Student Program selects local families to participate in a unique international experience to invite an international student into their family to provide a healthy learning environment. This environment assists students to develop their English skills, complete their studies and engage in activities with the host family to learn more about Canadian culture. Students are provided with a private room, three meals a day, seven days a week. every effort to accommodate interests and hobbies to ensure an positive experience.

Families are carefully selected and interviewed. Each host family participates in an in-home interview, an orientation session, and undergoes a criminal background and reference check. The program homestay coordinators will ensure that students are matched and placed in a family with compatible values. Students may select, families with same aged children, younger children, or just adults.

Each week the homestay coordinator visits each of the students to check on their academic progress, homestay and personal well-being. Activities

Our program offers a full range of extra activities including planned monthly activities, cultural activities and trips such as Niagara Falls Toronto Ottawa and Montreal.
