Message from the President
Welcome to our new and improved website! I would like to begin by acknowledging Ingle International for providing the services, support and funding for this website. We are very pleased with the results and we invite you spend some time exploring the new format. We trust that you will find it user-friendly and easy to navigate. We are particularly pleased with the revised ‘Find a School’ function and the new format for each school board/school profile. If you are a CAPS-I member, please keep checking back on the ‘Members Only’ section for recent news and updates including presentations from our annual conferences, minutes from our Annual General Meetings, and valuable networking resources.
CAPS-I represents the voice of the public school sector in Canada. We are represented by the 80+ school boards/schools listed on this website. All members offer quality Homestay Programs and some members have on-campus residences available to host international students. Our school boards/schools are able to offer a seamless pathway from primary to secondary school. Many of our members have partnerships with post secondary institutes in Canada which allows the pathway to continue from secondary (high school) education to universities and colleges.
You may notice some uniformity among schools with regards to academics when you examine our member’s profiles. Canada has a strong reputation for providing quality K – 12 education and Canadian public schools follow similar programs that are determined by each provincial/territorial government. CAPS-I member school boards/schools generally differ in 2 areas, (1) geographical location and (2) the extracurricular programs that they offer. Our institutes offer a wide range of locations and corresponding lifestyles. Choose from ocean life, to life surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, to life on the prairies, to life by the Great Lakes, to life in the historic part of Canada, to life on the tundra – you won’t be disappointed in your selection. You can also choose from life in a large city with a bustling population of over 1 million people to life in a small rural community that represents a more relaxed lifestyle. The extracurricular activities offered by our institutes are often reflected by the size and location of the program. Each member’s profile described in this website will assist you in learning about the location and activities offered by their school(s).
On behalf of the CAPS-I Executive and all of our members, we look forward to assisting you in learning more about the Canadian public school system and in helping you to choose among our quality CAPS-I schools.
Brent Poole
