Choose a School

Message from the President

Welcome to this website, and to Canadian public school opportunities!

Public schools in Canada offer international students excellent education and welcoming host families. CAPS-I (Canadian Association of Public Schools- International) is a national organization of 128 government-accredited school districts that host international students from many countries.

Why choose Canadian public schools?

#1 Canada offers internationally recognized quality public school education

Canada has a strong reputation for providing quality public education, and rank highly on PISA and other international indicators. Canadian public schools follow similar curricula, and employ qualified teachers and staff according to each provincial or territorial government’s Ministry of Education. All schools offer English, social studies, science, mathematics, physical education and elective courses.

#2 Study with Canadian students in welcoming communities

Our schools offer international students a chance to study with local Canadian students. Many students who stay to complete high school in our schools have successfully entered universities, colleges or other post-secondary institutions, in Canada and around the world. All of our members offer quality homestay programs, and one has a residence to host international students.

#3 Choice of location – choice of activities

International students may choose from many excellent schools according to its location in Canada, whether rural, urban or suburban. Schools may also differ in the elective courses and school clubs available. Students may pursue their current interests or develop new skills in many elective areas such as music, drama, fashion, art, information technology, robotics, geography and so much more.

High school sports include basketball, volleyball, soccer, track and field, tennis, badminton, rugby or football, and some have ice hockey, field hockey, golf, or curling – try a new activity or join a club to ski, snowboard or to help the environment – there are many interesting opportunities! The activities and optional courses offered by our institutes are often reflected by the size and location of the program.  Each member’s profile described in this website will assist you in learning about the location and activities offered by their school(s).

We welcome your inquiries about the Canadian public school system and we are pleased to assist you to choose among our quality CAPS-I schools.
